Try to include charts, pictures, examples and a lot of biological reasoning to back up the arguments because this is a Biology class.
This class is about Evolutionary Biology so the project should focus on that, the guideline is below.
Grading of Final Project Presentation: What needs to be included in your presentation:
• Your audience is your biology major peers
• The presentation should be 9-10 min.
• You need to include
1) background information,
2) questions that are addressed,
3) how scientists went about testing,
4) what they found, and
5) the future directions for this research.
• Your presentation also must include the following contents:
o Genes: You need to research into the chromosome this gene resides on, type of mutation cause the trait, mode of inheritance, etc.
o Traits: What traits/disorders this mutation can cause and how do they impact the organisms?
o Evolution: Tell us an evolutionary story about this trait
o At least ONE Research Paper from primary sources to support the idea (and not just from the websites)

Please read pages 15 to 64 from the book Behave by Prof. Robert Sapolsky. If you have a Kindle copy, this is from “Chapter One, The Behavior” until “The Mesolimbic/Mesocortical Dopamine System” (read only until that title).
The assignment should have three distinct sections, as follows:
Part 1: Answer the following questions using the ideas from the chapter in your own words. Answers that are a replica from the book (or very similar) will graded as zero. However, please note that technical vocabulary should be copied or used in your assignments. About 500 words for this part 1.
Explain the model proposed by Paul MacLean, defining the three layers and how these layers communicate with each other. Use the names of brain structures and other technical names.
Part 2: Develop and explain one idea, thought, relation, or connection of the material read in the assignment with other knowledge or experiences you might have. Please note that the noted connection needs to be developed and justified. You should be writing a minimum of five sentences in this paragraph to explain the relationship.
Part 3 – Annotate and describe 5 new words that you learned in this section of the book and that are related to psychobiology/neuroscience

You will need to know the normal percent salt solution in red blood cells in order to determine the answer to this question.
3. What visual difference(s) did you observe in the changes between the three cells in each of the solutions. Pick one of those differences and research their impact on a specific example in biological systems and provide a report on the impact. When you consider “impact”, consider both positive and negative impact.

Through reviewing research articles and constructing a written summary, you will gain exposure to terminology of microbiology in its application in the “real-world” setting.
Assignment
This module includes a written assignment on a topic of your own choice that reviews research and provides the student’s own summary and understanding of what that research tells us. You may select any module specific topic that is based upon any material presented in the textbook. The article that you are summarizing must be a peer-edited article (not a website, magazine, etc.). Plagiarism of any sort will not be tolerated.
Instructions
The 1-page summary should reflect independent student research on the topic chosen and include the following:
Summary must be single spaced, in 12-point, Times New Roman font.
Summary must include the following sections: objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
Include a reference page in APA format.
Your task is to select a scholarly, peer-reviewed article, which pertains to some aspect of microbiology covered the week’s module, and write a 1 page abstract with the guidelines described in the assignment’s instructions. You must select a peer-reviewed research articles that describes a study or experiment that includes objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. This does not include webpages, review papers, newspaper articles, Wikipedia articles, etc. An example of a research article can be found attached to this announcement, please do not use this. The best way to search for a peer-reviewed research article is to use a database (e.g. PubMed, Wed of Science, etc.), or Google Scholar. You should have access to several databases of research papers through the Marian University library. Please reach out if you are still unsure or have questions about this.
